Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: January 2026 · Next review: January 2027

1. Our Commitment

SleepScorePro is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to sleep health education and tools, regardless of their abilities or the assistive technologies they use.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

2. Conformance Status

SleepScorePro is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

The following measures have been implemented to improve accessibility:

Keyboard navigation supported across all interactive elements

Colour contrast ratios meet the minimum 4.5:1 requirement for normal text

All meaningful images include descriptive alt text

Semantic HTML5 structure (header, nav, main, footer, article)

ARIA labels on all icon-only buttons and interactive controls

Form inputs are associated with visible labels

Skip-to-content link available on all pages

Language attribute set to en-US on the root HTML element

Focus indicators are visible on all focusable elements

3. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas of our platform have known accessibility limitations. We are actively working to resolve these:

Calculator sliders

Complex range sliders in our sleep calculators may have limited screen reader announcements. We are working on enhanced ARIA live region support.

SVG graphics

Some SVG illustrations lack comprehensive alternative descriptions. We are progressively adding detailed alt text.

Third-party ads

Google AdSense advertisements are served by Google and are not under our accessibility control. We cannot guarantee their conformance.

Embedded content

Widget embeds served to third-party sites may not inherit our accessibility improvements.

4. Technical Specifications

SleepScorePro relies on the following technologies for conformance with WCAG 2.1:

  • HTML5 — semantic markup for structure and meaning
  • CSS3 — visual presentation via Tailwind CSS
  • WAI-ARIA 1.1 — ARIA roles, states, and properties for dynamic content
  • JavaScript (React 18) — enhanced interactivity with accessibility hooks
  • Next.js 14 App Router — server-side rendering for fast, accessible page loads

We test accessibility using keyboard navigation, Chrome DevTools Accessibility panel, and periodic reviews against the WCAG 2.1 AA checklist.

5. Assessment Approach

SleepScorePro assesses accessibility by the following methods:

  • Self-evaluation — our development team reviews new features against WCAG 2.1 AA before release
  • Automated testing — Lighthouse accessibility audits run on key pages
  • Manual keyboard testing — all interactive components are tested without a mouse
  • User feedback — we act on accessibility reports from users

We intend to commission an independent external accessibility audit within 12 months of this statement and will update this page with the results.
